A statement has been released by the English Indoor Bowling Association and Bowls England. Both organisations are delighted to embark on this amalgamation project with investment from Sport England and we will be working hard to bring all those within the flat green bowls community together on this journey.
We firmly believe that one National Governing Body for flat green bowls, with one voice, one strategy and one governance model, will: -
· Create a stronger, more accessible sport for new participants – one brand, clearer communications, and an all-year-round proposition for those considering bowls.
· Deliver a better player experience, increasing retention – a joined-up approach to providing great experiences for players across local and national competitions, international bowls and the talent pathway.
· Improve our service for club leaders – an easier and more effective experience for volunteers, expanded club services and one point of contact for stakeholders such as Active Partnerships or Local Authorities.
· Produce more effective governance – consistency of rules, regulations and policies, for example disciplinary, and integration in areas under joint stewardship such as disability bowls and coaching.
· Result in efficiency savings – fewer duplications of expenditure and time, creating savings that can be reinvested back into our sport.
We will be undertaking consultation sessions in conjunction with Bowls England later in the summer, before delivering a nationwide roadshow programme in the autumn.
If you would like to discuss anything further at this stage, please do not hesitate to contact us.
